This Sunday starts our next season of Field Training, with new adult classes and new rotation of kids teachers (thank you all for serving us so well!). As we've done the past several seasons, we take this intentional one-week break before starting new adult classes to do one thing: pray.

I'm reminded while reading Acts of the power of prayer in the early church, starting with the few and fledgling followers of Jesus in the first chapter. They didn't understand everything that was happening (they were just standing around after Jesus ascended!), but they knew Jesus told them to gather and wait in Jerusalem, so they obeyed and prayed (Acts 1:14). And when the Holy Spirit came and they were sent out to preach the gospel as new followers of Jesus were gathered, guess what they did? They prayed (2:42). And prayed (4:23-31). And prayed (6:1-6). And prayed (12:5). And prayed (13:3). On and on and on. And when they prayed, their hearts drew near to the Lord in worship, their eyes were opened to see God's miraculous work in their lives, and their minds were conformed to his sovereign will.

Members and attenders, would you come join us this Sunday to pray like that? Let's pray like the early church in Acts so that the word of God might increase and multiply among, through, and around us.
