Overview

Matthew

One of the most famous verses in the Bible is the Lord's Prayer found in Matthew 6:9-13.  Our Father who art in heaven...I think you can probably finish the rest.  But what does it really mean.  Jesus told us to pray "Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven."  We would all love to have a heavenly life here on earth, but how?  Is it just a prayer? Is it just a metaphor? Or is it a goal we must not only pray for, but live our lives to accomplish.

The Christian life is more than just bringing people of earth to heaven...It is about bringing heaven to earth for the people. Matthew spends his entire gospel showing the life and teaching of Jesus and how they fulfilled much of the Old Testament prophecies.  He points out the 1st and 2nd greatest commandments in the Bible, LOVE GOD and LOVE OTHERS.  He then commissioned us to MAKE DISCIPLES of all nations.

We hope to look at Jesus example of discipleship with the 12 and the world as he shared the truth of the Gospel and his life.  If we will commit to trusting the truth and living the life that he lived...The Lord's Prayer will be answered.  His kingdom will come to earth because we are showing the love of Christ to the world in real and tangible ways and more and more people will put their faith in him.
