My Story
I was born in Arlington TX and grew up in a Christian home. As I look back, I am grateful for my parents and church family who shared truth with at an early age. I put my faith in Jesus at an early age, but unfortunately I lived an all to typical “Christian” life, full of hypocrisy, complacency, and mediocrity. It wasn’t until late in my high school years during a mission trip to Jacksonville FL that I discovered that there was more to life than me. Until that point, I had been using anyone and anything to make myself look better. It was on that trip that I realized my life was to bring glory and honor to Christ, not myself. I had a knew love for my savior which caused me to live differently.
While in college at Texas A&M, God changed my direction in life and I sensed him calling me to serve his bride, the church. I changed my major and graduated as quickly as possible. Within 3 months time, I graduated, moved back to Arlington, started interning at Lamar Baptist, got married to the second love of my life (Jesus is first and she knows and wouldn’t have it any other way), and started seminary. Soon after, I became the Student Pastor at Lamar and was having a blast discipling students.
Joy and I started dating in high school and are one of the lucky ones to have seen our relationship through till marriage. We have 3 beautiful kids, Tucker (4), Jaxson (2), and Avery (4 months) and consider ourselves truly blessed. We value our family and desire to see God glorified through our marriage and kids.
My Prayer
I sensed God was getting me ready for something new several years back, but wasn’t sure what or where that was. Selfishly I tried to figure it out on my own, but thankfully God would not allow it. I was on his timescale. In his timing, it became very clear to both Joy and I that we needed to take a leap of faith as local missionaries by planting a church in our own backyard, Mansfield TX.
We slowly made the transition from Lamar to The Fields Church and are now working alongside a core group of families who desire to see God lifted up in this area through intentionally living missional and making disciples. Many times we want God to just shows us what his plan is immediately, but I don’t think we would be ready for it. He has to mold us and form us to his likeness so that we will be ready for the task. That is what he had to do with me before The Fields was born, and that is what he is doing with The Fields even as we speak.
